SCADpad

Objective

The goal for our team was to develop an ecosystem that automated the space and provided key services (food delivery & laundry) while providing education for the SCADpad resident during their stay in the micro house. Our specific tasks were to develop branding and what we considered “living services” that facilitated the micro housing lifestyle. The services we developed provide an innovative way to leverage technology and services for the micro housing movement.

The padPort is a smart delivery hub located on the outside of each unit. The hub acts as the central touchpoint to which padChef and padWash use. The padPort features sensors that can notify users of impending deliveries along with reminders of upcoming pickups. The hub also promptly notifies the service providers in order to expedite efficiency and create value.

PadChef is an innovative food delivery service designed specifically to address the needs of the SCADpad residents. The users will have the option to order prepared meals or groceries based on predetermined recipes. The grocery & recipe ordering system is designed so the user has access to checkboxes in the event that they already have an ingredient on the recipe. All food is delivered to the padPort delivery hub in compostable packaging designed by our team

The padWash laundry delivery service was designed around the need for clean laundry and limited closet space. Within the SCADpad there is limited storage space and no laundry machines, thus the need for a laundry delivery. PadWash works in conjunction with the padPort and notifies the service provider when dirty laundry has been deposited, and upon delivery of clean laundry notifies the resident. The advent of microsensors, RFID, and bluetooth technology could provide us with smart clothing that works with systems such as the padWash.

By ordering groceries based on available recipes users make efficient use of time and space while significantly reducing waste.
